I used to have a purse. It was a small backpack that I wore as same and usually stuck too much into it. I'd sometimes have another bag to carry for items that didn't fit.

Now I have a back-to-school type backpack as my new 'purse'. It will hold just about anything, and does, much to the dismay of my back...

I don't have a purse anymore. I have a bug-out bag.

I am ready for the zombie apocalypse.

Bring it.

Which is always a positive. ;)

I've been dealing with the heat and humidity - which melts me, physically and spiritually - trying to keep my energy up at work, taking some downtime AND - working on my writing.

A lot.

It's been AWESOME! :)

So, that's just about it, though I'll mention that I haven't seen some of you - okay, most of you, in person in AGES. I'd like to fix that before winter hits...

Certain Truths - Part One

A philosophical moment? Perhaps. Some humour? If I'm fortunate enough. Doing this post from my iPod Touch? Tricky. Small screen, but I don't have issues with size.

Some of these you may know and some you may not. Personally, I'm still gathering them.

So. The first ten that come to mind.

True Facts

1/ The only certain things are life, death and taxes, not necessarily in that order. I think 'garbage' should be added to that mainstay statement of Truths, 'cause we sure as heck aren't going to stop generating waste any time soon.

2/ Someone's lawn will always be greener than yours.

3/ Take a break now and then. The world will still be broken in the morning.

4/ There is no such thing as 'brain bleach', no matter how hard you wish for it.

5/ Freeing your mind is easier said than done - but worth it.

6/ It's probably safe to say that the sun will come up tomorrow, whether or not you have a dollar.

7/ Sunblock is essential.

8/ No matter where you go, there you are.

9/ One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor. Or so I hear.

10/ You cannot simply walk into Mordor.

There are more, but I leave them for future posts.

Hippo Bird-day to Ewe!

♥ Happy Birthday to my beloved husband, who is my kitty-cat and also an awesome bunny! ♥

Hugs and Love Always,
Your Mouse

How does your garden grow?

My third post this year - wow! ;)

Thinking about the ever-present 'To Do' List and drifting outside for a minute. The garden needs help and the veggie garden needs uber-help, but who wants to do work outside at the end of the day? Or when it's so cold, you wonder if the tulips are going to survive, let alone your fingers?

This weekend, maybe, if it's warm enough, Outside Stuff will be accomplished! :)

The weather is Spring-like, sort of, except when it feels like Summer or, like today, where it feels like Winter - with a dash of Spring. My thoughts have formed something like this:

The sun is shining,
The sky is blue,
My ass is freezing -
How are you?

So, how does your garden grow, folks? What are the challenges that await you?

Discuss. :)

New Journal Design

I don't know much about HTML, but I'm curious enough to try playing with it myself, modifying my site without asking my husband to help. I don't know if it's finished or not, but it certainly looks very different from what it did before.

So, what do people think? Too purple? Too green? Too... much, lol?

Feedback is welcome! :)

Spring Cleaning

It's Spring - sort of, depending on what part of the world you live in, of course, and if your usual weather patterns for this time of hear haven't dipped into the Insanity Pot - So it's time for a change.

Long overdue is the revamping of my journal. I've filled up my icons and switched some out for others. I've played with colours and will be playing with backgrounds. The title might even be changing, but I think the name will still be <lj user="seattlemouse">.

I intend to be more active here, and though I've said it before, this time I really mean it.

No, really.

So, Spring is here and it's in my step, too, as I renovate.

Sorting through papers...

I'm making an attempt to be productive and get organized for next year, which looms rather ominously. Going through drawers and bins I haven't opened in years, pitching and sorting. I came across an e-mail from a friend of mine in February of 2005, which I had printed out and, obviously, kept.

I liked it enough to post it here. This is what she shared with me...

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life.

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil --- he is anger, envy, greed, arrogance, cruelty, self-pity, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is good --- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you... and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather which wolf would win.

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

A thought for the day before New Year's Eve. I hope everyone is happy and safe, and that the good wolves of the world are winning.

Merry Christmas!

I didn't make it back here as I thought I would, and there's less than an hour to go before midnight, so I'm a little early, but...

It's time for us to sit with the tree and the dog for a few and set up the snack for St. Nicholas. I think the plan is to curl up with cranberry Wensleydale cheese and whatever crackers/bread we have and eggnog and watch episodes of Top Gear for a while. Sounds like a great way to ring in Christmas to me.

May your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmases be warm, safe and happy.

I opted for that rather than 'white', because not everyone has snow. We barely have any and we usually have more than this, lol!

Long time, no post, and here we are at Christmas Eve and errands yet to run. Where did the year go? I actually hope to post here again, before Christmas is over, but we'll see how the day progresses.

No more Christmas shopping to do - no more money remains - but life goes on and Mum needs to get things done before the stores roll up the red carpet and shut down the lights for the holiday.

And someone I know will be doing a lot of baking today... :)

Not much snow on the ground, which is strange, and we have no cider, which is unusual. We have decorations and lights up, though, and eggnog in the fridge. No water this morning, due to a burst pipe or something, but that's all taken care of now. A long, hot shower awaits me when I get back home.

In case I don't have the chance and the clock strikes midnight: Merry Christmas to all!
